“Things I like about Hackteria: while most bio/nano-science outreach uses the militaristic discourse on bullets, cyborg warrior, terraformed, perverse radical transformation, SF or rather S&M fantasies (Nanoparticles can serve as ‘magic bullets’ http://www.isaaa.org/resources/publications/pocketk/39/default.asp), the typical project described by my dear friends goes something like “NanoŠmano – Life Season, setting up a temporary nanolab in a community garden” or “Searching for the Ubiquitous Genetically Engineered Machines Dirt”…. I mean, it is like stuff your grandma does in the garden and not James Bond new movie on the next bio-terror villains… Hacteria – bio/nanotech for grannies (nanotech your granny wouldn’t be afraid to do in her garden) 🙂
